L'une des entreprises ayant marqué la fête du travail édition 2014 à Yaoundé, c'est la COGEICOM qui fait dans l'informatique et la photographie. Notre rédaction a suivi ses employés durant cette commémoration qui s'est achevée par des agapes. A la fin de la cérémonie. nous avons recueilli les impressions de ses employés qui nous ont présenté leur structure....


Madame Nadine MBE, Chef d’agence Vente (Avenue Kennedy Yaoundé) : « Je suis à ma 5ème année comme Chef d’agence. Nous faisons dans l’informatique et la photographie. Mes collaborateurs et moi avons passé une excellente fête de travail, nous l’avons célébrée dans l’harmonie. Le patron a fait ce qu’il devait faire pour nous mettre à l’aise, nous l’en remercions.
Concernant mes fonctions au sein de l’entreprise, je contrôle la boutique pour qu’il n’y est ni de pertes ni de manquants, je fais des efforts pour que tout aille pour le mieux du début jusqu’à la fin. Je gère un effectif de cinq personnes qui a pour mission principale, l’accueil des clients et la présentation des produits destinés à la vente au prix homologué ».


Monsieur TCHETCHOUA Evariste, Chef d’agence Tsinga (Palais des congrès) : « Pour cette 128ème fête internationale du travail, tout s’est bien passé au sein de l’entreprise surtout dans notre agence qui compte huit personnes, Monsieur NGOKO, le PDG, a pris toutes les dispositions pour que tout se passe bien. Notre passage a été très applaudi au niveau de la tribune d’honneur et par le public. Nous faisons de la communication qui est un art : les paroles s’en volent et les images restent. la photo est un domaine très important.
Parlant de mes fonction, je gère le quotidien de l’agence et je rends compte au Régional en la personne de Monsieur BOUJIKA Joseph. C’est un Monsieur très dynamique. Depuis 11 ans que je suis dans cette entreprise, tout se passe bien, tous les clients que vous allez rencontrer font vous dire qu’ils préfèrent mourir à Saint Michel.

Monsieur KYOYO EKONO Thierry( Responsable laboratoire photo, agence Kennedy) : « notre travail consiste à accueillir les clients et à développer leurs images. Nous mettons le paquet pour que tout se passe dans de bonnes conditions. Je dirige un groupe de trois personnes. La fête s’est bien passée sous la direction du Régional Joseph BOUJIKA. Notre passage au boulevard du 20 mai a été apprécié par plusieurs personnes, nous sommes satisfaits.

Monsieur KAMDEM Narcis Merlain, Informaticien, (agence de Yaoundé) : « Mon travail consiste à faire dans la vente du matériel informatique photo. en tant que technico commercial, je fais la maintenance dans plusieurs laboratoires photographiques, j’installe les machines photographiques et je fais les mises à jour des anti virus. Une quelconque défaillance peut avoir des conséquences lourdes que je mesure. On peut se retrouver dans une indisponibilité de livrer les travaux à un client. Nous installons aussi le système d’exploitation. Nous nous rassurons auprès du client de l’utilisation qu’il aura à faire du matériel et nous l’orientons pour qu’il sache exactement ce qu’il doit prendre. Je gère quatre collaborateurs dans mon service».

Monsieur BOUJIKA Joseph( Directeur régional de Cogeicom SARL) : « J’avoue que c’est une grande première pour nottre société de communiquer avec les médias après une aussi brillante fête, c’est pour nous un grand plaisir et je vous en remercie. COGEICOM est une entreprise qui fait dans la vente du matériel informatique et de laboratoire photos aux particuliers comme aux professionnels, nous sommes sollicités pour les services de tirage et de développement tout format, nous faisons par exemple des agrandissements de plus de deux mètres de long et un mètre de large. Notre clientèle est diversifiée. Elle est composée des profanes, des particuliers et des professionnels.
Les difficultés auxquelles nous sommes confrontés sont d’ordre énergétique. Les coupures intempestives d’électricité constituent une difficulté majeure.
Nous sommes présents sur l’ensemble du territoire national notamment dans les villes de Maroua, Ngaoundéré, Douala (Direction Générale), Bamenda, Bafoussam qui abrite le siège social. Cogeicom a 20 ans d’existence.
Je voudrais remercier mes collaborateurs surtout le Chef de département Ventes qui a fait un travail remarquable en préparant la célébration de cette fête du travail dans ses aspects. C’est exceptionnel, je n’oublie pas les autres chefs et surtout Monsieur NGOKO, le promoteur de cette entreprise sans qui nous ne serions pas là ».

Flash-back sur la célébration de la 128è édition de la fête du travail au Cameroun.

Le fait marquant de la célébration de la 128 édition de la fête internationale du travail à Yaoundé n’est pas certainement pas la grande morosité qui l’a caractérisée, mais la longueur du défilé. En effet, les participants à cette ultime phase de cette manifestation ont mis plus de quatre heures d’horloge au point où il était difficile de se mouvoir sur les axes convergeant vers le centre de la ville aux sept collines. Trop de bouchons ont été enregistrés rendant difficile, la phase des réjouissances.
Coté protocolaire, les syndicats des travailleurs ont comme par le passé posé leurs revendications. Parlant de la revalorisation des salaires, , l’amélioration des conditions de travail, la sécurité et la protection des travailleurs, le gouvernement à travers le ministère de tutelle a proposé des pistes de solution et rassuré comme d’habitude les syndicalistes sur la prise en compte des problèmes soulevés. Même si dans ce ping-pong, le gros dindon demeure le travailleur. A Yaoundé donc, beaucoup de travailleurs ont défilé, mais très peu ont suivi les differernts discours. La cause est fort simple : les artères où s’étaient regroupés les travailleurs en attendant le moment de passer devant les autorités n’étaient pas sonorisés. Nos amis les ont passé ce long moment d’attente à s’enivrer. Les travailleurs ont donc bu et mangé mais n’ont rien retenu des différents messages.les syndicats ont réclamé cette année la paternité de l’organisation de cette fête .malheureusement pour eux, ils devront encore attendre. Les pouvoirs publics ne sont pas prêts à lâcher du leste. Les entreprises ont donc fait leur spectacle mais les conditions des travailleurs demeurent difficiles pour les uns, inhumaines pour les autres. Nous avons encore en mémoire l’image des journalistes d’une radio privée de la place qui demandaient les téléphones Camtel pour faire leurs reportage. Dans le secteur médiatique toujours, très peu d’entreprises ont défilé, d’autres organes ont recruté des sportifs comme des artistes et des badauds pour gonfler leurs rangs….
Dans les coulisses de cette marche des travailleurs, les talons des chaussures ont toujours sauté, certains employeurs n’ont rien offert à leurs employés. Nous avons encore en image cette scène où les employés ont séquestré un cadre lors de la distribution des frais de transport , ou encore ces employés qui mangeaient dans le fourgon d’une voiture…. Quelques jours auparavant, certaines entreprises ont mené des activités récréatives. C’est le cas de la Société Ubipharm qui fait dans la distribution des médicaments. Elle a organisé une marche sportive ouverte au public sur une dizaine de kilomètres dans l’arrondissement de Yaoundé IIIè. Des lots allant des pendules murales aux produits pharmaceutiques en passant par les gadgets ont été distribués aux participants. C’est au petit matin que beaucoup de ces travailleurs ont mis fin aux festivités, conscients que leurs problèmes n’avaient pas trouvé de solution.

77th AIPS Congress in Baku closes in extraordinary spirit

BAKU, May 05, 2014 - With an extraordinary ceremony hosted at the Buta Palace in Baku the 77th AIPS Congress came to quite an end on Wednesday evening: Traditional dancers, Azeri folk singers and modern pop music combined with traditional Azeri food made the night one to remember for all those present.
Azad Rahimov, Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, closed the 90th Anniversary with proud words: “It was an honour for us to have hosted the AIPS Congress in Baku and to have the crème de la crème of sports journalism with us.”
“We were glad to show a bit of our culture, of our hospitality and our traditions to you,” he added. Rahimov also emphasized how delighted the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev was to be present at the opening ceremony of the 77th AIPS congress and personally get to know some of the best sports journalists in the world.
The capital at the Caspian Sea is looking forward to hosting the inaugural European Games next summer and Rahimov was thrilled that AIPS members had got a chance to see how much the city had progressed. “For us it is very important that all of you can see with your own eyes that the preparations for the European Games are going full speed ahead,” Rahimov said, promising an athlete-focused Games with” the highest of standards”.
Rahimov especially thanked Roslyn Morris, former AIPS Secretary General, for her effort and help in the cooperation of the Organizing Committee and AIPS.
AIPS president Gianni Merlo directed warm words of thanks to Azad Rahimov and Organizing Committee of the 77th AIPS Congress: “We had the best possible conditions to work in; also, we got the chance to understand the feeling and the heart of Azerbaijan.” The array of international journalists attending agreed and honoured Rahimov and the Organizing Committee with standing ovations.
Along with many awards and presents given throughout the very special evening, one of the visual highlights was the Turkmenian present for Gianni Merlo: A traditional red robe with accompanying hat and belt that the AIPS President was to try on instantly – a perfect symbol of the lightheartedness of the entire evening.
The Closing Ceremony also set the stage for the handover for the next AIPS Congress in Montevideo, Uruguay in 2015.
As the handover was officially signed and as the AIPS flag was passed on to the Sports Journalists Association of Uruguay, president Gianni Merlo was presented with a special 90th anniversary gift, an exact replica of the ‘Charrua’ trophy that the Uruguayan association awards to the best athlete of the year.
As the handover and closing ceremony in glittering Baku came to an end, the upcoming 78th AIPS Congress in Montevideo, was given an outstanding level of welcome and organization to aspire to.

La conférence des pasteurs chasse les médias non-chrétiens.
La gloire de l’Eternel ne s’est pas levée sur les médias non-chrétiens de la capitale politique camerounaise en ce 3mai que la Communauté internationale a consacré à la célébration de la liberté de la presse. En effet, la Conférence des Pasteurs voulant médiatiser la journée de prière qu’elle organise aujourd’hui, elle a fait appel aux médias sans leur préciser au départ que seuls les chrétiens étaient les bienvenus. Les journalistes ont débarqué au lieu de la cérémonie comme des abeilles. C’est au moment de se faire enregistrer qu’ils ont appris de la bouche d’un pasteur que l’ordre est venu du maitre des cérémonies que « seuls les médias chrétiens peuvent entrer dans la salle….». vous pouvez deviner la colère des hommes de médias face aux hommes de Dieu. En ce jour de la célébration de la liberté de la presse, on ne peut pas dire que la sortie de l’auberge ,c’est pour bientôt.

FAJ Calls on AU and African Governments to Address Challenges Faced by African Journalists, Ahead of May 3 Event

As the World Press Freedom Day is being celebrated on May 3rd, across the globe, the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) today called on the African Union and African Governments in particular, to address the challenges that journalists and media workers faced in the execution of their noble duties. In this present milieu, most African nations are confronted with security threats, socio- economic and political turmoil, all of which add complexities to the work of journalists in packaging and disseminating information.

The media situation in the continent has brought about numerous challenges particularly in the area of security. “The consequences of these security threats on the performance of journalists in relation to their work, integrity and impartiality can only be imagined. On the other hand, official corruption and bad governance are becoming rampant in the continent; and the fight against these twin evils has no doubt gone beyond mere speechifying and has become daunting task for journalists to report on. Many media practitioners have found themselves between the devil and the deep blue sea as they battle for their survival and need to stand tall against negative tendencies in the society,” said Mohamed Garba, FAJ President.

FAJ bemoans that violence against journalists by armed militias or state agents across the continent has increased tremendously. More frustrating also is the failure on the part of most African governments to make adequate investigations into the violations of journalists’ rights and to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes against journalists. This deliberate lax attitude of governments to defend and guarantee the security of journalists and media workers has emboldened the violators to continue with their heinous acts against journalists. Thus, enhancing impunity.

FAJ would like to reiterate that most African governments have adopted freedom of expression and freedom of information legislations, most of which are enshrined in their national constitutions. On a continental level, many instruments and treaties guarantee media freedom such as the Windhoek Declaration, the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights and the Declaration of Principles on Freedom of Expression in Africa.

Despite the guarantee of media freedom by these instruments, the reality lived by journalists in the continent is altogether different. Media freedom suffers under the pressure of repressive laws, the absence of security for journalists who experience continuous attacks and assaults, harassments and intimidations as well as arson attacks on media houses and the seizure and willful destruction of media equipment. “Violations of media freedom and freedom of expression take place in every corner of the continent and have similar pattern of discouraging journalists to report freely and independently. From Somalia to South Sudan, from Equatorial Guinea to Eritrea and from Morocco to Madagascar, the dangers to media freedom and freedom of expression are real and life threatening”, said Mohamed Garba.

The willful killing of journalists is one of the most heinous crimes committed against journalists. Such crude and cowardly killings often send chilling waves on other journalists, and have a double barrel effect of forcing such journalists into self- censorship, or at worse, silencing them completely. Year in year out, the murder of journalists has become a routine act where state and non-state players are actively involved. The prosecution and punishment for such crime rarely happen due of the lack of political will on the part of the authorities. As a result, journalists spend their time watching their back rather than fulfilling their watchdog roles to society.

It is instructive to note that a climate of impunity engenders violence. This is exactly what is happening in many African countries, where violence against journalists has become the order of the day. Countries like Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Nigeria, Central Africa Republic, Mali, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Congo DR, Eritrea, The Gambia, Morocco, Rwanda and South Africa are now among the front line states that condone impunity and violence against journalists in Africa.

Unresolved murder cases have piled up to unprecedented levels and serve to haunt the colleagues of murdered journalists, who are often subjected to arbitrary arrests, beatings, torture, kidnappings and intimidation both in conflict or non-conflict situations, or in politically unstable situations.

Penal codes, secrecy legislation as well as anti-terror laws are frequently being used to suppress journalists, media freedom and freedom of expression. These laws are used to convict journalists of criminal libel, defamation and slander. Critical and independent reporting of sensitive issues is often criminalized as well as other security issues or matters relating to the war against terror. As a result, investigative journalism suffers as a result of the frequent criminalization of journalistic work attempting to expose corruption, bad governance, human rights abuses and accountability issues.

While we are grappling with the cases of detained journalists in Egypt over trump up charges, just last week Ethiopia embarked on another clampdown with the arrest of three journalists and six bloggers. FAJ in this regards wish to renew its call to authorities in Egypt and Ethiopia as well as all other countries that are holding media personnel in custody to without further delay release all detained journalists immediately and unconditionally and to withdraw all charges against them.

FAJ underscores the importance for African states to develop policies that will mitigate the risks faced by journalists in exercising their duties. This includes taking practical measures to ensure the safety and security of journalists through concrete action, strong commitment, and law enforcement.

FAJ recalls that journalists are among the most poorly paid professionals in Africa, making journalism a profession in which one can hardly make a decent living. Journalists face uncertainty and work in precarious conditions, as they have to move from one media house to another in search of decent wages. News media organizations exploit journalists, particularly reporters, correspondents and women journalists. Minimum salaries paid to journalists are not enshrined in legislation and the majority of working journalists do not even have work contracts.

In this regard, they do not enjoy the minimum benefits stipulated in the labor laws. Journalists work long hours, 7 days a week, in hazardous conditions and with a total lack of social security with many of them earning below the poverty line of 1 US dollar per day.

African governments must step up as a priority the need to guarantee the freedom of expression and of the press as well as the safety and security of journalists and the citizenry in general. Democracy, good governance and the rule of law cannot strive in any country without the effective functioning of the media that propels divergent views and gives a voice to the voiceless.

Mme Lisette Lapiro informe la communauté camerounaise de Washington que ni elle, ni les enfants Lapiro et encore moins les membres de la famille Sandjo ne sont ni de près, ni de loin responsable de ladite organisation.


Elle rappelle en outre aux fans de Lapiro de Mbanga ainsi qu’à la communauté toute entière qu’une date leur sera communiquée dans les plus brefs délais, pour la tenue des célébrations de l’artiste émérite Lapiro de Mbanga.
